Canada Cup Part 2 of 3- Baie St. Paul
This weeks race takes me 8hrs from home into the deep north of Quebec... Yup...Baie St. Paul... it was a rough one this year. I guess when you have bad luck you have really bad luck. 3 flat tires and a broken seat. I'm not to worried though because the fitness is right on at the moment. Even with all the malfunctions I still finished mid pack in 27 th place. The race report is pretty simple. Got up into that top 15 off the line, hanging pretty good and comfortable for the first 2 laps, then mechanical's starting coming and it was stop go for the remaining 3 laps. The track in BSP is always really cool. Its placed on this dark pine forested hill side and loops back on its self several times. The climbing is less than 2min at time and the soil is loamy and littered with sharp pointy rocks and root balls. The most unique aspect of the track is how it loops back through the start/finish area several times per lap in a confusing maze of over under bridges. Its super motivating when its packed with people yelling!!! Cant wait till next week!!
Bike racing at the international level comes with highs and lows and if i learned anything this year its to take bad races in stride and learn from them. Learning I am and my motivation is high!! I get another shot this up coming weekend in Toronto, Canada for round 3 of the Canada Cup series.
Don't ask I guess this is Canada way of keeping riders on course...
